Fabulous angel, Tina

Hi everyone!

I'm sure that people often write back to tell you how great things are going with their new dog, but we really found a treasure. Tina is such a fabulous little angel. Its just amazing to us that she was given up by another family, but we are so thrilled that we found her. Thank you for all the care and love you gave her at the center.

She was so happy to come home on Sunday. She was so eager to explore her new home and back yard. Sim worked hard to make sure every possible escape was well covered. She loved her new basket immediately, but can't resist coming up to rest on the couch if we are sitting there. She is so affectionate! It seems like she would spend all her time in our laps if she could! She also has meet the dogs next door and is so good at making friends. She loves the park and was up at 5:45 am ready to go! Really it would be fair to say that she takes us for walks!

She's been itching quite badly since she came home, so we bathed her and gave her a flea treatment. Hopefully it will clear up soon, because they really seem to bother her. She's eating really well. Petco recommended a puppy food for her and she absolutely loves it. We are quickly working out each other's signals and she's figured out she can let me know when she wants to go in or out. She gets so excited when anyone comes to the door. We are thrilled at how great she is with everyone. All our friends and family can't believe what a perfect little addition to our family she is.
We've taken so many pictures, but I am looking forward to seeing the digital one you took. We're planning to send that picture out in an email to friends and family to announce her arrival. We'll keep in touch with you. Feel free to write anytime. We'll also be looking into those obedience classes for her very soon so that we can learn more about each other.

We feel so comfortable with her and she's made herself right at home. I was so excited to let you know how thrilled we are and what a perfect fit Tina is in our lives.

How do new dogs and babies get along?

The baby and the dog should never be left alone together.

However, Bassets are the least likely to be dangerous. There are other breeds such as the Labrador, the Golden Retriever, and the Collie that are unlikely to snap at children.

Adopting an older dog that has had experience with children is much better than adopting a puppy or a young dog without experience.

With puppies, teething is part of growing up - and sometimes they don't know the strength of their own jaws. Rather than riskng it, go with an older dog. That way, both parties can have fun & respect without getting into any trouble!!
