New! Brody loves everyone ...

Hi Connie!

Just wanted to write and let you know how Brody is doing! (We adopted him on 1/26). He is doing just great! We love him so much. He's a wonderful dog. Such a little sweetheart. I can't believe anyone ever gave him away. He's so good too. I thought we would have some problems with housetraining since he was an outside dog before, but we haven't had many problems at all! He's a really smart boy. He LOVES to play! He loves to play ball. And he's so cute, he has a rope dog toy that he will throw up in the air and play with all by himself. Funny little guy. I think what he liked most of all when we first took him home was sleeping on the bed. He LOVES the bed and can't wait to go to bed at night. He's also learned the word "Cookie" for a treat, and gets very excited if you ask him if he wants a cookie. I've attached a couple of pictures of him. My daughter is crazy about him and he's crazy about her. He loves everybody.

My daughter (she'll be six in March), loves to look at the Beagles and Buddies web site, and loves to see Brody's picture and that he's been adopted. She says she wants to work at Beagles and Buddies when she grows up. Thanks so much for everything, we were the perfect match for Brody! (Or Brody-O as Jillian calls him). Marie & Peter M. Hi Beagles and Buddies,

Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how April (formerly known as Floppy) is doing.

Right off the bat we noticed that she didn't respond to the name "floppy", so we took the opportunity to rename her April. Since her birth month is most probably April, we thought that would be good.

The cough that she had for the first two weeks is gone now. The anti-biotics did the trick. We still have a problem with house training, but she is learning to go outside. She is also chewing a bunch of stuff. We're not quite puppy-proof yet, but we're learning. She also seems to get along ok with the cats.

April has settled right in to our home and overall we are very happy to have her with us. I've attached a picture of her at "nap time."

Regards,
Brad and Annette (and Ozzy, April, Stoney, & Callie) [02.09.02]

Hi,

Just wanted to send you a quick note and picture to let you know that Soonie, (actually it's Chia now) is doing very well in her new home. She gets along great with our other two dogs. Even though they are bigger than her, she let's them know she's boss. We love her very much. Thanks.

How do new dogs and babies get along?

The baby and the dog should never be left alone together.

However, Bassets are the least likely to be dangerous. There are other breeds such as the Labrador, the Golden Retriever, and the Collie that are unlikely to snap at children.

Adopting an older dog that has had experience with children is much better than adopting a puppy or a young dog without experience.

With puppies, teething is part of growing up - and sometimes they don't know the strength of their own jaws. Rather than riskng it, go with an older dog. That way, both parties can have fun & respect without getting into any trouble!!
