Buddy taylor & more ...

This is what I see every morning on my chest. - Peter Wong [Jan 21. 2002]

It's Buddy Taylor! His pix never got on the web and a senior woman adopted both him and Maddy, a l0 yr pom. She already had a l2 yr pom.

I thought I would write you a short note about how I’m doing. You knew me as Witty Smitty. Now I’m called Woody. You see my grandfather’s name is Whit and it was all too confusing. Anyway, I like my new name.

Last summer I left you for my new home in Palmdale. I really like it here. I immediately hada brother Rocky (18) and a sister Misty (11) and with me we made a happy threesome. Right away they liked me and I really liked them too! We all ran and played together and I was very happy I ended up with a good home. I also have two cats that are my friends, Zorro (3) and Xeena (1½). At first the cats just looked at me a lot, but my winning smile and friendliness won them over in no time at all. Eventually all 5 of us became a family. Oops lets not forget the two people who adopted me I love them too. I’m happy in my new home and with all my new family members. I love everyone. There is only one thing that made me just a little sad. My older brother Rocky passed away a few months after I arrived. That made all of us very sad. We all loved him and will miss him very much. Other than that I think I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. This is my first Christmas in my new home and it’s lots of fun. I have lots of squeaky toys, a warm fireplace and cushy cushy pillows. We have lots of Christmas decorations inside and outside too. I keep looking out the window cause I hear that sometimes we get snow. And, I have been promised that when it snows I can run and play in it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen snow, let alone play in it. I’m not sure I even know what it is but it sure sounds like fun. Right now I have a big house and a big back yard. I like running around real fast. Sometimes I even smell something and start barking while I track it. I think I’m getting good at it.

My new owners tell me I’m such a good boy and I believe them. I follow directions well and hardly ever get into any mischief. Well it’s getting late now and I guess it’s time for me to go to sleep. I like to sleep; after all I am a growing puppy. Anyway I think it’s time for me to finish up my little letter. I wanted to send you special thanks. Thank you for taking care of me and finding me a new home. I hope all the friends I left behind at Beagles & Buddies find a good home too! I hope they find a family as great as mine! Thanks again!!!!!!!! Love Always,Woody (AKA Whitty Smitty) [Feb. 01, 2002]

How do new dogs and babies get along?

The baby and the dog should never be left alone together.

However, Bassets are the least likely to be dangerous. There are other breeds such as the Labrador, the Golden Retriever, and the Collie that are unlikely to snap at children.

Adopting an older dog that has had experience with children is much better than adopting a puppy or a young dog without experience.

With puppies, teething is part of growing up - and sometimes they don't know the strength of their own jaws. Rather than riskng it, go with an older dog. That way, both parties can have fun & respect without getting into any trouble!!
