Sailor Wabby! ...

---

Wabby (Cilla) Flaherty in Maryland, formerly from the streets of So. El Monte. We love this picture. The interviewing process for her home was pretty brutal, we screened out many many folks who wanted this beauty and finally she selected her 6-acre place on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay with her Mom who manages a marina and grandpa who is a retired vet. The family has always had beagles (well, only for the last 40 years). Uncle Kevin drove down from San Francisco and spent time w/ her before they both flew back to Maryland.

Note from Cynthia: Just so you know, she does wear her lifejacket.

Hello- We adopted Victor, now Buddy to us about 2 weeks ago and are emailing you to let you know how things are going. Things are GREAT!!! He has totaly made himself at home, has adjusted very well. He's great with our 2 girls and is definitely a "buddy"- he loves to snuggle under blakets and be with us. He loves the car. He is very protective--for a small dog, his bark is ferocious!!

He is getting over kennel cough. It was pretty bad so I took him to our vet who gave him antibiotics and a cough suppresant and he is much better. We are working on house training. He loves to play catch but needs some work on "Come". We will probably get him into obedience school shortly.

Anyway...things are going great and we are glad to have him as part of our family!!! [9.21.2001]

Hey Connie and the gang at Beagles and Buddies!

We just wanted to write with a little update about Jane, the Jack Russel Terrier. We have had a really fun week since she arrived at our house! Janehas a mind of her own, as you well know! But we are following the trainingguidlines and can already see some improvements. Thank you so much for all your support in helping us find Jane! We are so happy!! We will send pictures soon! Take care.
Thanks again, Allison Andersen [10.1.2001]

(Left) Sonya with Meatball. Meatball was rescued from a local animal shelter - his last day would have been September 11th. He is our little miracle boy!
(Right) Fleet makes a home run with his new folks!!

How do new dogs and babies get along?

The baby and the dog should never be left alone together.

However, Bassets are the least likely to be dangerous. There are other breeds such as the Labrador, the Golden Retriever, and the Collie that are unlikely to snap at children.

Adopting an older dog that has had experience with children is much better than adopting a puppy or a young dog without experience.

With puppies, teething is part of growing up - and sometimes they don't know the strength of their own jaws. Rather than riskng it, go with an older dog. That way, both parties can have fun & respect without getting into any trouble!!
