Junior & Daisy ...
We have truly been blessed to find these two adorable siblings. In just the
short time that we have had them they have filled an empty spot left by the
passing earlier this year of our two dogs who both died from different forms
of cancer.
They are so full of energy and eager to please. After taking them to your vet
for their rabies shots we brought them back to Garden Grove to our vet who we
have had for several years. He thought they were the greatest and said he has
never met a beagle he didn't like. He gave them both a clean bill of health.
We have started taking them for walks and have them enrolled in doggy school
starting next week. I'm attaching another photo. Thanks so much for being there
to rescue these wonderful animals.

Update: Junior and Daisy will be with us two weeks tomorrow.
They are the cutest. They love to play ball with us. Daisy has fallen in love
with a stuffed pig that they received as a gift from a friend. It oinks when
stepped on and she carries it around in her mouth. Junior has a stuffed cow
that moos that he likes throwing in the air. We started dog obedience school
this week and they are teaching us a thing or two. They are the most lovable
little dogs and both love to snuggle. We are so please that they chose us to
be part of their family. [09-15-01]

Hello to everyone
at Beagles and Buddies.
We are Jim, Kathy and Justin Warner. Last week we adopted (Sandy), the 2
yr old Beagle. Her new name is DiDi and she seems to have adjusted quite
well to us and our home. She is such a wonderful addition to our family.
She's affectionate, calm and is house broken. After we brought her home
we bought her a "few" things. Ha ha. $70 dollars worth of toys,
food, bowls and a bed. She only slept the 1st night on her bed. She now
sleeps on Justin's bed
(Thank you for the advice) She seems well mannered and has only barked at
a cat statue and the hamster. It was so funny. When we took her for a walk
she saw a rabbit and of course tried to chase it. Justin found out how strong
she is. DiDi loves going to the park and spending time outside with us.
She loves everybody she meets including the neighborhood kids. We are so
happy to have her in our family and we think she feels the same. We were
very pleased to meet you and think you are doing a wonderful thing. We had
planned to adopt a Beagle before the tragic events of last Tuesday and decided
to go ahead even with all the fear and emotions of last week. It is heart-warming
to meet such caring people as yourselves. -Kathryn [09-16-01]
Neil
Cooper and I adopted "Sundance" who we renamed Stonewall on July
29. I know that Neil wrote you a letter about how Stonewall is doing, but
I just cannot avoid putting my 2 cents in.
I am so in love with Stonewall. He is simply the sweetest must adorable
furry critter I have ever had. I grew up with dogs, but never developed
a love for any of the dogs. Stonewall has such a playful, active, and attentive
personality. Even though he has a bit of anxiety, I can actually appreciate
this since I also have this in my personality.
We are keeping Stonewall in prime shape. We take him running 2-4 times per
week. We also walk him numerous times per day. He also engaged in his first
hike last weekend. He drank more water than we did!
Stonewall recently met Julie, a 2 year old female beagle who lives 2 doors
down. They play together a lot on the weekends. Stonewall also goes to the
dogparks in the area and has a lot of fun trying to engage the dogs in a
chase. He seems to prefer big dogs, but certainly never shies away from
the attention of any dog.
Stonewall is such a joy and great addition to my life. I only wish I adopted
him 10 years ago. Thanks so much for letting us adopt him. You have made
a difference in my life and that of Neil Cooper.

How
do new dogs and babies get along?
The baby and the dog should never be left alone together.
However, Bassets are the least likely to be dangerous. There are other breeds
such as the Labrador, the Golden Retriever, and the Collie that are unlikely
to snap at children.
Adopting an older dog that has had experience with children is much better
than adopting a puppy or a young dog without experience.
With puppies, teething is part of growing up - and sometimes they don't
know the strength of their own jaws. Rather than riskng it, go with an older
dog. That way, both parties can have fun & respect without getting into
any trouble!! |
