Wilbur dearest ...
Ehrm,
excuse me. My name is Wilbur. I used to live at Beagles and Buddies motel -
until some wonderful folks named Han & Sarah came to pick me up. They're
really nice to me! They let me chase squirrels when I can, but I think they
don't like it. But anyway, I knew all along that I'd be here with Sarah and
Han permanently. My beagle nose tells me so! Well, here's a letter from my folks.
Thought I'd share it with you all!"
"Hi,This is Han and Sarah, we're the foster parents of Wilbur. We
just wanted to tell you how he's doing, which is great! As well as give you
some good news. He's been a beautiful dog, wonderful to have around, and we've
all fallen in love with him.
Wilbur starts his day with a long walk around the neighborhood. Although we
have to be careful because if he sees a squirrel he'll try to bolt after it
(he's a fierce squirrel hunter!) Then while Sarah and I go to work he either
spends his day exploring our backyard or sleeping indoors. He'll get all excited
when we get home and chase us around, until he finally catches us and we reward
him by taking him on another walk.
He really enjoys spending time with us, lying next to
us while we watch TV, or flopping down on his back in front of us because he
wants to be petted (which we love to do!)
I've uploaded some pictures of Wilbur on the net, you can find them here: http://photos.yahoo.com/deludedbuzz
And then click on the Wilbur folder. He's such a cute dog!
Finally
the good news. After spending so much time with Wilbur and realizing how great
a dog he is, we've decided that we can't bear to part with him. So we'd like
to officially adopt him! -Han and Sarah and Wilbur" - 08-22-0
"My wife and I adopted Breeze in January 2001. We changed his name to "Lombardi"
After the famed Green Bay packers Coach, We decided to this because he came with
a Green Bay Packers collar when we adopted him. He still has some separation anxiety,
but he manages very well, someone is always at home. Lombardi goes to Wags and
Wiggles Doggy Daycare about once a week . We have had him in positive reinforcement
training at Wags and Wiggles, it works very well. I cannot recommend this training
enough, because we do not have to use force or a choke collar. Lombardi is the
dog that all people walk up to because he is very handsome and friendly. The folks
at Wags and Wiggles have told us that Lombardi is an excellent athlete, he will
soon start agility training. This little guy has been nothing but a blessing to
me and my wife. We can only wonder why someone would ever give this dog up for
adoption, I guess God works in Mysterious ways. We will continue to support Beagles
and Buddies, so other people can have the same experience as us.
Thanks
and keep up the good work!" 08-27-01

How
do new dogs and babies get along?
The baby and the dog should never be left alone together.
However, Bassets are the least likely to be dangerous. There are other breeds
such as the Labrador, the Golden Retriever, and the Collie that are unlikely
to snap at children.
Adopting an older dog that has had experience with children is much better
than adopting a puppy or a young dog without experience.
With puppies, teething is part of growing up - and sometimes they don't
know the strength of their own jaws. Rather than riskng it, go with an older
dog. That way, both parties can have fun & respect without getting into
any trouble!! |
