Our Winter Newsletter
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM B&B!!!
 You've heard the expression: "We'll do the difficult right now... the impossible will take just a bit longer."
Well, thank goodness no one told us the difference... or we didn't hear 'em! Once again B&B has had a blessed year with the difficult and impossible accomplished. All thanks to YOU and our guardian angels
near and far.
 ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2004:
Over 700 dogs adopted! Most of these are pure and mixed beagles and other small breeds. In the past about 6% are the big pooches and coonhounds. This past year l0% of adoptions have been from that more
difficult to place population. We credit this change directly to our 'Every Dog... Every Day program'. Young adults with developmental delays and disabilities from the Lincoln Training Center spend each morning with the pooches and every single dog gets taken to Red Cloud Ranch where they play in groups. This is accomplished by a team of four LTC clients and a job coach. B&B has paid for these services for the past three years and it has been so worthwhile.
In August we were awarded a grant from the California Community Foundation to expand this program over the next three years. Among other things, we will prepare our own training film for the LTC crew and our own volunteers. We're gonna need participants in this project.... please get in touch!
Our Doggie Therapy Room is complete! Doggie Massage classes will start in the new year. Presently about 20 shy or new woofers get comfortably situated in the Aquarium daily for l-2 hours "meditation". Soothing music, lavender or other healing aromas waft through -- it's a treat for k-9 and humans alike!
We've been able to roof a second atrium over the playground. Bob Brandelli furnished the area with lovely concrete tables, benches and gorgeous garden pots. Bob's generous offer to sell his products to us wholesale continues - affect is a 25% discount to you and 25% donation to B&B. Please contact us to see the catalog and to order.
Many new volunteers have come to help out. We're pleased to have had Girl Scout Troop No. 650 spend a fun-filled day with us; we were especially thrilled that they came bearing doggie gifts!
We welcome volunteers every day and have orientations the 1st Sunday of each month and every Sunday at 1:30 pm to 4 pm during December. Come join in the fun!
WISHES AND PLANS FOR 2005:
Basically, more of the same... fun with the dogs, increased adoptions, especially the big hounds. After such concentration on doggie comfort, we're hoping for heat in the dwellings where our full time volunteers and a number of dogs sleep. The home has not had heat (or air) for 10 years; We've also got big plumbing and electrical needs.
We're also gonna surprise you with some cool dog projects - most likely involving our super Humane
Education Director, Dr. Kathy Fuller and her creative adventures with students of all ages and talents.
We will attend a SAFER testing seminar at Pasadena Humane Society this month and commence
implementation with our dogs in January. This behavior evaluation method that will help us make
better adoption matches. We'll update you on our website after attending the workshop.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!
Volunteering to lend a hand at the kennel would be a special blessing. Willing to help? Tell us
your talents & we'll put you to work! Visit us and volunteer any amount of time you have
available and are able to share. These doggies have needs as simple as playing & socializing
with people and also need bathing, grooming & exercise. Our aim is to walk and give special
attention to "every dog... every day!" Come on out and lend a hand!
DOG WALKERS NEEDED DAILY!
We've continued to notice increased adoption numbers of the Big Dogs - daily dog walking is
largely responsible. Many thanks to the Lincoln Training Center and the many other dedicated
folks who come out, especially Sharon & Wayne Sutherland who are here one day per week
without fail! We always need helpers... come join us for some fun exercise walking dogs!
SERVICES WE OFFER:
B&B is happy to board your pooches at our wonderful Red Cloud Ranch. While on vacation, let
your dogs enjoy their own holiday at Camp B&B. We also offer day stays... "doggies day care!"
DONATE YOUR USED CAR TO HELP THE ANIMALS!
If you own a vehicle you're not using, or if you are getting a new car and need a new home for
your old one, please consider making a gift to B&B. We'll give you a receipt for tax purposes
