Dear B&B Friends,

We wanted to let you promptly know the results of Thursday night's City Council meeting concerning our kennel licenses in El Monte. The Council has affirmed the previous results, so we will be phasing out of El Monte by April 11, 2012.

B&B has become such a part of the El Monte/San Gabriel Valley community over these past 15+ years, more than 12,000 dogs rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed, thousands of volunteers and no doubt millions of volunteer hours loving the dogs and helping them succeed. Your support is so appreciated - to those of you who were able to attend the Hearing, your speeches were tremendous. We know there were more than 500 emails sent and even more holding good thoughts for the dogs.

The Council Members have offered to assist in fundraising and transition to Apple Valley - and were most gracious and professional during the four hour meeting. We have commitments from volunteers to come and work on our 15-acres in the high desert. We have some ideas and will be brainstorming with you to develop plans for our new adventures in B&B-land.

Please come visit El Monte any Wednesday and Friday from 11 am to 4 pm; Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm - our open house adoption times. Some experienced volunteers are working other days/hours socializing, bathing, brushing and playing with the dogs. Sign up for our monthly e-news on the website's home page; send photos of your dogs with stories - we remember you all and want to keep in touch.
Now more than ever, please adopt, foster, sponsor one of our "specials" - the olde timers, long timers, or true special needs dogs. We can help match up someone who will be a good fit with family.
Anybody with trucks, trailers who are able to load up supplies, materials and transport to Apple Valley - you're on our Wish List. Apple Valley is just l-l/2 hrs from El Monte......

BIDGET AND ALMA

Two sweet bonded beagles need your help!
Alma, age 5, 32lbs., has the most unusual mammary tumor we've ever seen, is blind in her left eye which needs repair so she is more comfortable, also dental and spay. Little Bidget, age 4, 10lbs., needs her blind severely damaged left eye removed, dental and spay; she was probably hit by a car, judging from the scars on her face and eye injury. All surgerie's total $2,000 after 25% discount from our rescue-friendly vet. After just two weeks in their foster home, they are running, playing and have even given kisses to their fave people. They adore one another and must continue to live together. Every gift adds up and helps.

Memorial Tile

B&B has a beautiful Memorial Tile garden at the back of Red Cloud Ranch. Customized tile honoring many beagles and buddies have been made and lovingly placed on our brick wall. Here is one of the most recent - for Hugo, adopted from B&B a few years ago. Hugo and his family moved to South Dakota awhile back and he passed there this Spring.
His parents, Liz and Aron wrote: "It is just so important to us to know that he's remembered in a special way after he gave so much to us. He truly changed our lives and being able to see his tile means the world to us."
